Alan Connolly netted a hat-trick as Cork blew Tipperary away in the second-half to record their second win in this year’s Munster senior hurling championship.

The 4-30 to 1-21 victory at Semple Stadium leaves the Rebels on four points alongside Limerick and Clare, with the latter two in action again next weekend, while Tipp’s championship hopes for 2024 are now done.

The Premier men had enjoyed the perfect start in Thurles that saw Jake Morris netting for the in the opening minute. The visitors recovered well from the early blow, keeping it tight throughout large portions of the opening half until Connolly’s first goal in injury-time saw them take in a 1-15 to 1-12 lead at the break.

The second-half saw Pat Ryan’s men dominate their opponents and outscore them by 3-15 to 0-9, with Connolly netting twice more and Patrick Horgan, who finished with 1-9, adding another as they ended their Munster SHC round-robin trail in style and now await next weekend's results down south to learn their fate.
